Our school-based health centers are a safe and convenient place for any student to receive the medical health care they need to succeed in school and become productive members of their community.
A student who is tired, sick, suffering from asthma, stressed, depressed or scared, often experiences academic performance issues as a result and an increased risk of dropping out of school.
TVHC’s Youth Health Services (YHS) Department offers culturally competent, age-appropriate, convenient, and affordable primary care and health education services to adolescents and families through school-based health centers, located at Tennyson High, Hayward High and Logan High schools.
Much like our main community-based health centers, our school health centers advocate holistic health care, paying careful attention to the dynamic relationship between mind, body, and spirit.
Our primary objective is to make important health and wellness information more readily accessible to youth and provide an effective tool for them to take control of their own well-being.
We see clients of various ages, usually a student of the high schools, other feeder schools, and/or their families. Additionally, Castro Valley Health Center accepts adult clients in the community for care services.
Minors require parent/guardian consent to receive primary care services. For sensitive/health education services, minors can provide self-consent under Minor Consent laws of the State of California.
We check eligibility for full scope/minor consent/managed care Medi-Cal, FamilyPACT programs.
