Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t afford to pay for the services I need?

At TVHC, we accept all patients regardless of their ability to pay for services and we have many options available for those who do not have insurance and experience financial hardship. You may qualify for a number of different programs such as Medi-Cal or HealthPAC, which are government-funded programs that pay for health care. If you do not qualify for these programs, we offer an affordable pricing plan for services that we base on the average income of our members.

How much can I expect to pay for the service I need?

The specific payment amount that you are responsible for at the time of your visit depends on your insurance and/or the assistance programs for which you are eligible. Some patients may have a co-payment, a service charge, a sliding scale discount, or a share of the cost. For our self-pay patients, generally, a base fee will be required during your appointment as well as payment for any required lab work and the rest can be made through a payment plan.

A billing statement may be sent to you if the required payments are not paid at the time of the visit and we ask that your payment be made as soon as possible, so that we may continue to offer low-cost services to others who need them.

Do you offer payment plans where I can pay off a balance over multiple payments?

Yes, we do. Please call (510) 471-5907 and ask to speak to a patient accounts associate for more information.

What documentation do I need to bring to my appointments?

You should always bring insurance cards, health program membership cards, and proper identification for each visit to TVHC. A photo ID may be an official State or Federal issued ID, a school or work ID, or a voter ID from your country of origin, but it must have a photo.

English is not my first language, will your staff be able to understand me?

The staff at TVHC are multi-cultural and multi-lingual. We can assist you in Spanish and English, and if your first language is not one of these, we can help you find further resources. Regardless of your citizenship status, we are here for you!
