You Betta Check YouthSelf: Increasing Access to Well-Child Visits
Well-child visits are essential for early detection, preventive care, and healthy development, yet access can be limited by scheduling constraints. Through the You Betta Check YouthSelf initiative, CQOW is piloting new approaches to increase access and efficiency.Â
The initiative is currently in the final stages of rolling out a Well-Child Access Pilot at our San Leandro-Ashland clinic. The pilot includes dedicated half-day well-child visit sessions hosted by pediatric providers, creating protected time focused solely on preventive pediatric care.Â
Provider feedback has played a key role in shaping the pilot’s design and implementation. CQOW also partnered closely with Central Operations to align scheduling templates and availability, and with Nursing to ensure appropriate staffing and vaccine readiness.Â
The pilot began at the San Leandro-Ashland clinic in late February, and many patients have already shared positive feedback about the increased access these dedicated time slots have provided. As the pilot continues, CQOW is taking the opportunity to see what works best and where improvements can be made before expanding to Union City, Hayward-Mission, and Castro Valley.Â
HEDIS well-child visit performance will be used as a primary success metric to guide evaluation and next steps as the CQOW team continues working towards closing care gaps.Â
As always, thank you to our amazing CQOW team members for your continued commitment to making care accessible and efficient for all patients.Â
