TVHC’s Janet Anwar Interviews with Telemundo to Inform Community Members on How to Apply for New Medi-Cal Expansion Coverage
On January 2nd, Registration Services Manager Janet Anwar was interviewed by Telemundo on the most recent Medi-Cal expansion, helping to inform newly eligible community members on how to apply for benefits.
“People who already have restricted Medi-Cal, which is coverage in case of emergency or pregnancy, do not have to do anything, they will automatically be enrolled into full Medi-Cal,” reported Janet.
Additionally, Janet encouraged viewers to seek assistance at clinics like TVHC. Individuals who do not currently have coverage can call or text the TVHC Eligibility Department at (510)288-3505, and one of our Covered California certified team members will assist them with their application.
This expansion will provide much-needed access to comprehensive medical coverage, filling in the previously not covered age gap between undocumented young adults (ages 19-25) and older adults (ages 50+).
By having access to medical coverage and a health system like TVHC – which offers medical, dental, optometry, podiatry, family support services, behavioral health services, and more – our community will be healthier overall as they switch to a preventative care model.
Documentation requirements for individuals who have yet to apply for Medi-Cal were also discussed, including what qualifies as proof of identification, income, and home address.
This expansion will continue to improve patient access to high-quality healthcare for our most vulnerable populations. Thank you, Janet, for your outreach contribution during this expansion of coverage!
