On Wednesday May 15th, over 30 of TVHC’s Promotoras journeyed to the state capitol with Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN) to participate in an End Child Poverty rally.  

Many of the Promotoras also brought their families to the event, allowing their children to engage in learning how to advocate for their communities’ needs.

Nancy Respaldiza, who has been a TVHC Promotora for over 5 years, was also chosen to give a testimonial about how HPN has impacted her family.

Nancy spoke of how much her life has changed since she became a Promotora with TVHC and connected with HPN families, specifically the benefits that her son has been receiving with his education as she continues as a Promotora with HPN and TVHC.

TVHC’s Community Impact Coordinator and lead for the Promotoras Program Sandra Espinoza also had the opportunity to connect with Senator Aisha Wahab about the impact that Promotoras make in the community and how to support the program.   

We greatly appreciate Senator Wahab’s interest in our Promotoras and look forward to working with her and her team on continued advocacy efforts and increasing health equity in the communities we serve.
