September 2024 CEO Update

September was an inspiring month for our health center, marked by key moments that reflect our ongoing commitment to community health.

It began with Dr. Kyu Rhee, President & CEO of the National Association of Community Health Centers, making a visit to the Bay Area, including the Alameda Health Consortium and TVHC’s sister clinics.

During Dr. Rhee’s visit, we held a roundtable discussion to explore healthcare priorities and the ways NACHC can support our goals. Our health centers shared their needs and collaborated with Dr. Rhee on key issues, such as elevating community health centers, building leadership, creating a strong workforce, integrating innovations like AI, and fostering national connections.

Dr. Rhee also shared updates on federal changes that could address local challenges and visited our health centers to learn more about our work and partnerships. I’d like to extend my gratitude towards Dr. Rhee and NACHC for their continued support and advocacy for CHCs like TVHC and the impact we make for our communities.

I’m also proud to celebrate the achievements of two of our own, Chris Aguirre and Diana Chiquete, who have grown within TVHC and recently joined our team of behavioral health providers.

Both started in entry-level roles and, with the support of TVHC’s continuing education programs, completed their graduate studies to pursue their passion for helping others. Their journeys are a testament to the importance of professional development in building a strong and compassionate workforce, especially in the case of increasing culturally competent care services.

As the upcoming election continues to move closer, it’s also vital that we stay informed on key measures such as California’s Prop 35 that can impact CHCs ability to provide high-quality care to underserved communities.

Understanding the myths and facts surrounding this proposition is essential, as it directly impacts the future of healthcare in our state. I encourage everyone to take the time to learn more and make their voices heard this November.

Together, we continue to make strides toward a healthier, more informed community. Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Andrea Schwab-Galindo
TVHC Chief Executive Officer
