October 2023 CEO Update

October was a busy month, as we kicked off a few events and festivities to bring us into the holiday event season, including a costume contest for staff and a trick-or-treat event for our Family Support Services patients.

We also celebrated a significant milestone anniversary with the 20th Anniversary of the Promotoras Program event, honoring the important contributions of our most dedicated community members and the impact they continue to have in our community.

We also opened our 15th site, the Castro Valley Health Center, at the Castro Valley High School in partnership with the Castro Valley Unified School District. What I’m most excited about with the Castro Valley Health Center is that we are able to see non-student patients and community members during non-school hours. This collaborative effort allows for us to bring the resources and benefits of two trusted partners to the broader community!

I am honored for TVHC to be a part of Superintendent Parvin Ahmadi’s vision and mission to increase access to 56% of the 6,774 low-income individuals not served by a community health center.

As our county and state demographics change, we must continue to reimagine community health. We must bring new ideas to the table on how to increase access and quality of care, while utilizing our resources.

Recently, I attended the California Primary Care Association’s annual conference, where I was able to meet with healthcare leaders from all areas of the state to discuss changing demographics, what the next 10 years of community health will look like, and how to address serious healthcare concerns facing California’s uninsured and underserved communities.

TVHC remains dedicated to serving the community and providing accessible, high-quality healthcare to all as we work to shape the community healthcare landscape of the future.

Thank you to our staff, partners, and supporters who make our work possible. I hope you enjoy this month’s community update.

Warmly,
Andrea
