Healthy Bites: Families Explore Nutrition with FSS and COA
We’re thrilled to share progress from Healthy Bites: A Nutrition Journey, a class designed by TVHC’s Community Outreach & Advocacy (COA) department for families in our Family Support Services (FSS) program! Their second session wrapped up this week, with 5 parents and 10 children actively participating and showing great enthusiasm.
Week 1: The curriculum started with carbohydrates, learning about their role in a balanced diet.
Week 2: This week, they explored proteins, focusing on their importance and food sources.
Next Week: The team will cover fats, discussing healthy choices and their benefits.
The children are excited and eager to learn, while parents are engaged and ready to apply their new knowledge at home. Each family takes home a bag of food provided by the Alameda Food Bank, giving them the tools to turn lessons into real-life habits.
These classes support our shared goal in FSS: helping families move toward greater health and self-sufficiency.
A huge thank you to our COA and FSS teams, and our participant families and the Alameda Food Bank for making Healthy Bites: A Nutrition Journey a success!
