COA Receives Community Ambassador Award at
Hayward Promise Neighborhoods’ Promise Fest
At Hayward Promise Neighborhoods’ Promise Fest, TVHC’s Community Outreach and Advocacy (COA) department was presented with a Community Ambassador award from Hayward Promise Neighborhoods (HPN) and the City of Hayward for its influential work in the community.
Sandra Espinoza, COA’s Community Impact Coordinator, was nominated to be the Hayward Promise Neighborhoods Ambassador for the new footprint, which encompasses parts of Cherryland, downtown Hayward, and a portion of northern Hayward.
The recognition and support for this nomination came from Executive Director of Hayward Promise Neighborhoods Edgar Chavez and Hayward Mayor Mark Salinas.
We are very proud of the COA team and the impact they continue to make in the community to advance health education and awareness.
Over the Halloween weekend, the TVHC Promotoras conducted outreach at the Hayward Public Library’s annual Trunk or Treat event for the HPN Promise Fest.
The Promotoras handed out candy and facilitated games for families while educating attendees about TVHC’s programs and enrollment services. Their outreach work at community events continues to bring new patients to TVHC and reduce disparities in access to quality healthcare.
The COA department is also working hard to educate patients and community members about TVHC services, CalFresh and food security programs, Covered CA, and Medi-Cal redetermination.
Their outreach work is especially important due to a change effective April 2023 that reinstates the Medi-Cal redetermination policy that was paused for three years during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, all recipients of Medi-Cal must re-enroll into the program or risk losing their benefits.
Stay tuned for more updates about the Promotoras’ outreach work!
