January 2025 CEO Community Update

As we step into 2025, we’re reflecting on our impact and challenges from the past year while preparing for the significant shifts already taking place. We are navigating a period of significant uncertainty and change. With evolving healthcare policies, shifting regulations and debates over healthcare access and the role that the safety net plays are more pronounced than ever.

I invite you to stay informed through these updates on our initiatives and how we’re working with our team and community partners to ensure that we can continue to deliver affordable, high-quality, and comprehensive primary and preventive care to those who need it most.

To highlight some good news, I’m pleased to share some exciting updates as we begin the year.

After weeks of dedicated efforts following the flooding of our San Leandro-Ashland Clinic, we have successfully reopened primary care services, the lab, eligibility, and behavioral health services. The clinic was temporarily closed after a water pipe burst caused significant damage, requiring extensive repairs to restore essential services.

While dental, podiatry, and optometry services remain closed for additional repairs, our incredible flood response team has been managing the progress and we expect to reopen in the coming weeks.

Earlier this month I had the privilege of attending the California Primary Care Association (CPCA) January board retreat as Board Chair. I connected with CPCA board members, CPCA Advocates board members, and consultant partners to discuss the evolving federal healthcare landscape, CPCA’s role in Prop 35 implementation, and opportunities for the association and clinics amid current challenges.

In times like these, I’m especially grateful for the CPCA and its members’ expertise and strong alignment, which make us a powerful force for advocacy, training, and partnership.

Finally, as we navigate potential changes, I want to reaffirm TVHC’s unwavering dedication to serving our patients. We are committed to remaining agile and resilient, adapting to the new realities imposed upon us while we continue to advocate for policies that support equitable, accessible care for all.

Our team is prepared to offer resources and guidance to ensure that all patients feel supported and informed, and our thoughts and support remain with those affected by the Los Angeles fires.

Thank you for your continued trust in TVHC. Together, we will continue to build healthier communities for all.

Warm regards,

Andrea Schwab-Galindo
TVHC Chief Executive Officer
