May 2025 CEO Community Update

As May comes to a close, I want to extend my thanks to the many individuals and partners who continue to walk alongside TVHC in service of our mission.

Earlier in May, I had the pleasure of hosting our 2024 Values Champions for a special luncheon in their honor. These individuals were nominated by their peers and recognized for the ways they live out our organizational values of Teamwork, People-Centered, High-Performing, Learn-It-All, and Collaboration every day.

It was a joy to hear the stories of how they uplift their teams and care deeply for our patients. Their efforts remind us that our values are more than words—they’re actions that move us through challenging times and help our mission shine.

Additionally, I was incredibly honored to accept the Alameda Health System’s Community Partner Award on behalf of TVHC. This recognition reflects the strength of our partnerships and our shared commitment to improving access to care for our most vulnerable; an impossible task without the dedication and resilience our TVHC staff bring to our mission every day.

We also gathered to celebrate the legacy of Nancy Soto, who recently stepped down as TVHC’s Board Chair. Our team, several board members, and Nancy’s family and friends came together for an evening of appreciation.

Nancy has played an instrumental role in strengthening TVHC’s foundation and advocating fiercely for the health of our communities. Her leadership has left a lasting impact, and we are profoundly grateful.

At the same time, we face significant policy and financial threats. The Governor’s proposed budget includes cuts to Medi-Cal expansion, a move that risks widening health disparities and placing more pressure on community health centers like ours. With an expected rise in uninsured patients and growing uncertainty about safety net funding, we are working actively with our partners to push for sustainable, effective solutions.

These are challenging times, but they underscore why our collective work matters so much. Thank you for continuing to support TVHC and standing up for healthcare as a human right.

Warm regards,

Andrea Schwab-Galindo
TVHC Chief Executive Officer
