January 2026 CEO Community Update
Happy New Year to you all. As we close out January, I want to take a moment to reflect on the successes and challenges of the past year and acknowledge the evolving landscape ahead. Through times of continued uncertainty and change, staying connected and informed about access to care and the role of the healthcare safety net remains more important than ever.Â
January brought a meaningful milestone for Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center. We were honored to receive the 2024 Operational Site Visit (OSV) Badge from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), recognizing full compliance with all Health Center Program requirements. Â
This recognition reflects our strong foundation, operational integrity, and continued commitment to delivering high-quality, accountable care to the communities we serve.Â
We are also proud to share that Dr. Jessica Apfel, TVHC’s Director of Behavioral Health Services, has been selected for two key leadership roles in 2026: Co-Chair of the California Primary Care Association’s Behavioral Health Peer Network under the Clinical Taskforce and a member of the Alameda County Behavioral Health Department’s Budget Stakeholder Advisory Committee. Â
Through these roles, Dr. Apfel is helping shape discussions at both the state and county levels, ensuring that the perspectives of community health centers and the needs of patients remain central to decisions about behavioral health strategy and system sustainability.Â
As we move forward, we remain committed to navigating change with agility and resilience. With the support of our partners, staff, and community, we will continue advocating for policies that ensure access to affordable, comprehensive primary and preventive care for all. Â
