August 2025 CEO Community Update

August has been a month of celebration and reflection at TVHC. Through our Fiesta All Summer Long, we’ve taken time to recognize and honor the dedicated team members whose hard work and compassion power the care we provide.

From anniversary milestones and activity lunches to fun contests and raffles, these events are just one way we express gratitude to the people who serve our community every day. I also had the pleasure of hosting a lunch for our staff reaching milestone anniversaries and hearing about the most meaningful aspects of their work, including some who have been with TVHC for over 25 years.

One team member shared how, when she first started, she used notebooks to schedule appointments for our patients – a reminder of how far we’ve come. Another reflected on the joy of now caring for the children of patients she used to check in at our clinics when they were young. A newer team member spoke about her rapid growth at TVHC, beginning in a receptionist role to becoming a supervisor in our Youth Health Services department. Stories like these highlight the incredible value and commitment our staff bring to TVHC, both those who have been with us for decades and those just beginning their journey.

August also gave us the opportunity to celebrate National Health Center Week, honoring the role of community health centers like TVHC across the country and highlighting the unique and vital services we provide. This year marks the 60th anniversary of both community health centers and Medicaid, symbolizing the nationwide impact of these programs and serving as a reminder of the progress we have made in our communities. Medicaid continues to be a critical source of coverage for many of our patients, helping ensure access to preventative services, chronic disease management, behavioral health, and more.

I was honored to welcome California State Senator Aisha Wahab to one of our clinics to discuss the vital role health centers play in providing comprehensive care and addressing behavioral health, homelessness, and other pressing challenges. Our colleagues from CPCA and Alameda Heatlh Consortium joined our meeting for a tour of our Mission site. These conversations are critical as we continue to advocate for resources and policies that support our patients.

Finally, I am proud to share that TVHC was recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) with two Community Health Quality Recognition Badges: the Advancing Health Information Technology (HIT) for Quality badge and the High-Value Care badge. These awards recognize the hard work of our staff and reaffirm our commitment to providing high-quality, affordable care for all.

Thank you for your continued support of TVHC and the communities we serve. Together, we can build a healthier future for all.
