April 2025 CEO Community Update
As we begin the month of May, I’m excited to share some meaningful updates from April that reflect how we’re advocating for our mission—both within California and beyond.
This past month, I had the privilege of representing Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center (TVHC) at the California Primary Care Association’s (CPCA) Day at the Capitol in Sacramento. Alongside fellow community health center leaders from across the state, we met with lawmakers to advocate for critical policies that support the health and well-being of our patients.
Our focus included protecting Medi-Cal, ensuring health centers remain financially viable, and sustaining affordable access to care and medications—especially for our most vulnerable communities.
I’m deeply grateful to our Alameda County State Assemblymembers and State Senators for their continued support and for taking the time to hear about the innovative and essential services we provide at TVHC. Alongside CPCA leadership and my fellow CPCA executive board members, I also had the pleasure of meeting with Deputy Legislative Affairs Secretary Paula Villescaz of Governor Newsom’s office to highlight the work that health centers are doing and to discuss how we can keep our state’s healthcare safety net protected during times of uncertainty.
In addition to our advocacy work at the Capitol, I was honored to be interviewed by Healthcare Brew, where I shared insights on what it’s like to lead a community health center in today’s evolving landscape.
We discussed the unique challenges and opportunities facing our work, from addressing provider burnout to the value of long-standing relationships between providers and patients. The interview is a reminder of how essential our community health centers are—not just for access to care, but for delivering care that is rooted in trust, equity, and compassion.

Thank you for continuing to support TVHC. We’re proud to be your community health partner and grateful to work alongside you in creating a healthier, more equitable future for all.
Warm regards,
Andrea Schwab-Galindo
