April 2024 CEO Update

As May begins, we reflect on a month filled with purpose and advocacy. On April 16th, I had the privilege of standing alongside fellow leaders from community health centers across California at the California Primary Care Association‘s Day at the Capitol in Sacramento.

We made the most of this opportunity by advocating for legislative support for California’s Community Health Centers (CHCs). This support aims to enhance health equity in the communities we serve and help our dedicated staff continue working towards our shared mission of providing high-quality care to underserved populations.

During this time, I also had the privilege of engaging in discussions with Assemblymember Liz Ortega, Senator Aisha Wahab’s office, and Governor Newsom’s Chief of Staff. We appreciated the chance to meet and discuss important pieces of legislation and share compelling data and narratives drawn from the experiences of our patients and staff.

Following these impactful visits, I dedicated the subsequent days to collaborating with fellow members of the CPCA board, convening for our quarterly board meetings to strategize and drive forward our shared vision for the future of community healthcare.

A special thank you to Alameda Health Consortium and CPCA for coordinating this visit alongside our fellow Alameda County CHCs!

I also had the honor of hosting a luncheon for our 2023 TVHC Values Champions, commemorating the second consecutive year of this event dedicated to celebrating the remarkable contributions of our staff.

The TVHC Values Champions Annual Awards, now in its second year, reaffirms our commitment to recognizing and commending the outstanding, values-driven efforts of our team. In addition to heartfelt appreciation, each recipient received a certificate and a financial reward. This annual celebration has quickly become a cherished tradition, firmly integrated into our ongoing program of appreciation and recognition.

The complete list of champions and their respective nominated values are included in the story below.

Thank you for your continued support of TVHC, and I hope you enjoy this month’s community newsletter.

Warmly,
Andrea
